Passengers arriving without a visa, if required, will deported.
Children over 7 years mentioned in the passport of a parent must hold a separate visa;
A tourist visa and Business visa are valid only for a maximum period of 28 days. The
passenger must hold confirmed or onward tickets.
A transit visa is valid for a period of 24 hours only.
Travel to certain areas in Myanmar is restricted. Contact the information counters of

Entry visa for Myanmar is issued within 24 hours at the Myanmar Embassies and Consulates
General abroad. In case of urgency (i.e. within less than 24 hours), there will be extra
charges in US$ as follows:

COMPULSORY CURRENCY EXCHANGE:
A minimum of USD 300 has to be changed into local currency on arrival. Any additional currency may be exchanged at the Cash Counters of Myanmar Travels and Tours, hotels and Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank.
RE-ENTRY PERMIT:
Required for alien residents, to be obtained before departure from Myanmar.
EXIT PERMIT
Required for all passengers when leaving Myanmar, issued by Immigration Department in Yangon.
Exempt are:
a. Holders of a transit visa;
b. Of an entry visa who stayed not more than 30 days in Myanmar,
c. passengers continuing their journey by same aircraft without leaving the airport.
Passengers leaving Myanmar must hold a tax clearance certificate or an exemption certificate.
Exempt are:
a. All persons under 18 years;
b. passengers holding through tickets from a place outside Myanmar, provided they did not stay in
Myanmar longer than 90 days:
c. Diplomatic representatives of foreign countries accredited to Myanmar and their wives;
d. Nationals of Myanmar.
Health: Required-except for transit passengers not leaving the airport-vaccination against
yellow fever, if;
-arriving within 6 days after leaving or tra sisting infected areas.
-being a national or permanent resident of Myanmar and leaving for a destination situated in an
infected area.
Tax: Airport Tax is levied on all passengers leaving Myanmar on international flight:
US$ 10- Place or payment: Yangon Airport.
Exempt are transit passengers who continue their journey by same aircraft.
Customs:
Import: free import:
1. 400 cigarettes, 100 cigars or 1/2 lb. of tobacco:
2. two quarts of alcoholic liquor.
3. one-pint bottle of perfume of Eau de Cologne.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Jewellery, electrical goods and cameras must be declared to the Customs at the airport.
Pets: personal pets may accompany passenger on production of health certificate.
Export: export of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages is only allowed on licence. Travel
souvenirs and all imported goods require an export permit.

Myanmar currency is Kyat, which comprises 100 pyas.

Coins: Kyat 1,pya 50, pya 25, pya 10, pya 5, pya 1.
Visitors are not to bring in or take out Kyats.
Foreign Exchange
It is compulsory, for Foreign Independent Travelers (FITs) to exchange US $ 300. But for their convenience the Central Bank of Myanmar has issued Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) in Dollar Units. (for details, see Foreign Exchange Certificates)
Foreign currencies must be change only at authorized Money Changes at the Airport, Hotels, Banks and Myanmar Travels and Tours Offices. American Express, Master and Visa Credit Cards are accepted.
Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs)
Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) are issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar for the convenience of tourists visiting Myanmar.
Foreign Exchange Certificates (FECs) are issued in four dominations:
(1) FEC equivalent to US Dollar Twenty;
(2) FEC equivalent to US Dollar Ten;
(3) FEC equivalent to US Dollar Five;
(4) FEC equivalent to US Dollar One;
The exchange rates of Foreign Exchange Certificates are as follows:
(1) US Dollar (one) Foreign Exchange Certificate (one) unit
(2) Pound Sterling is to be changed at the daily cross rate notified by the banks.
(3) The fractions of the Foreign Exchange Certificates calculated at the daily cross rate will not be exchanged.
Foreign Exchange Certificates can be exchanged at the Banks, the State owned hotels and Myanmar Travels & Tours Exchange Counters and others various authorized stores elsewhere.
It is compulsory for Foreign Independent Traveler (FIT) holding Entry Visa Tourist (EVT) to change on arrival a minimum of US $ 300 or other equivalent acceptable currency with Foreign Exchange Certificates 300 units. This is the minimum amount to be sent by a tourist during his her stay in the country. Any unused Foreign Exchange Certificates out of this amount will not be reconverted. If a tourist has exchanged in excess of US $ 300, any unutilized balance of the Foreign Exchange Certificates will be reconverted at the time of departure on presentation of the "Foreign Exchange Certificates Voucher" at the Exchange Counters.
Payments by Foreign Exchange Certificates shall be deemed to have been made in foreign exchange.
These Foreign Exchange Certificates are acceptable by any person in the Union of Myanmar.
Foreign Exchange Certificates can only be used within the Union of Myanmar.
